Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC G2 Full Review: Is It Really Worth $1,200?

I give a full review of the new Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC G2. Is this really worth the $1,200 USD price tag? This version 2 of the Tamron 24-70 is a big step up from the first version. It's a bit faster, more accurate and quieter. But it does have one slight flaw I noticed. Zoomed out at 70mm, I did notice the lens hunt at times. But I wouldn't let that deter you from buying this lens. If you are on a budget and dont want to spend almost $2,000 for a lens, give this Tamron a look. Its very much worth the money.

Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC G2 vs Canon 24-70 2.8L II: Which To Buy?

I put the Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2 vs the Canon 24-70 2.8 II head on. This is a popular request as Tamron's newest 24-70 is in high demand. A key point on paper is the price difference; the Canon runs around $1,750 USD and the Tamron G2 $1,200 USD. But is the extra $500 worth it? Tamron does have one huge offering over the Canon beat, the VC, Vibration Control noted to 5 stops. It also is built a bit heavier as well. The two major things noticed is the Tamron at around 70mm hunts at times and has heavier vignetting wide open at f2.8.
